Riverwoods International Rescue 43 was sent back to the dealer today for some warranty work and to have the new paint scheme of the airport applied.
On the same day River Heights Engine 10 responded to Jakeland for station fill while their companies were commited on a fire with an explosion. Engine 10 operated on a few calls for Jakeland during the assignment.

Riverwoods International has decided to scrap Tower 27's rig. The cost of repairs was mounting and it was determined to be more financially feasible to make an emergency purchase of a Pierce PUC PAP demo. The rig is estimated to be delivered in December, and delivered in the new paint scheme for the airport fire department.

Tower 27 was involved in a freak accident today when a ramp vehicle collided with the bucket of the aerial while both vehicles were driving on the tarmac. The engineer of the tower was able to take evasive maneuvers to avoid a major collision with the ramp vehicle, however, in the process the ladder struck an overhead sign. The ladder was damaged beyond repair, there was some additional body damage from the ramp vehicle. In the coming days, Pierce will be out to assess the damage and discuss options.

Riverwoods International recently sent Rescue 23 to Oshkosh for some warranty work. While at the dealer for a progress check, Assistant Chief Daley happened to see another local airports design scheme and had the re-paint and lettering quoted. The repair work came in way under budget, so the new paint and lettering font are being applied prior to its return.

Engine 82 responded mutual aid to cover Jakeland's Coal Street Firehouse during a General alarm high rise fire downtown at the Oritani Federal Credit Union Building.

Engines 1 and 12 along with Truck 4 responded mutual aid to Westbrick's extra alarm house fire on Affton Woods Court, where two houses were involved. Companies operated on scene for several hours.

Engine 10, Truck 7, and Battalion 2 responded to a vehicle fire on the eastbound Eric McDonald Memorial Bridge headed towards Paradise City. The fire was extinguished quickly, without incident and all companies returned to service.

River Heights Engine 1 responded into Portage Lego Station 3 for station fill during their structure fire at 567 Conemaugh Avenue. Engine 1 responded on two medical calls while covering. Engine 1 was back home after approximately 3 hours.

River Heights responded to a structure fire in the 2000 block of North Elm Street. Engine 5 was first on scene and reported a working fire in a vacant dwelling. Check out the incidents page for more info!
